How long does a blood pressure check take?
The appointment usually takes around 15 minutes, including time to discuss your result.
Do I need to prepare for the check?
Try to avoid caffeine, smoking, and exercise for 30 minutes beforehand, and wear a loose sleeve so the cuff fits comfortably.
What happens if my reading is high?
We will explain what the reading means and may recommend a re-check, home monitoring, or speaking to your GP depending on the result.
Can you check my blood pressure if I already take medication?
Yes, regular checks are a good way to see how well your treatment is working between GP reviews.
