Travel vaccines: how early should you book?

Booking a holiday is exciting. Booking your travel vaccines, less so. But getting the timing right makes the difference between full protection and a stressful last-minute scramble.

Your travel vaccine timeline

  1. 1

    8 weeks before

Book your consultation. This gives time for any course that requires two or three doses.

  2. 2

    4-6 weeks before

Receive most single-dose vaccines and start any antimalarial tablets you'll need to take in advance.

  3. 3

    1-2 weeks before

Pick up your travel medicine kit: antibiotics, anti-sickness tablets, sun protection.

  4. 4

    Day of travel

Pack your vaccination certificate (yellow fever, in particular, may be required at the border).

Last-minute trip? We can still help. We just may need to adjust the recommendations. Get in touch and we'll do our best.
